As Veterok prepares to disappear with the money to Bali, his plans are thwarted-someone is already aiming a sniper rifle at him. Young detective Lyosha Boldyrev is assigned to investigate this mysterious murder. Oddly enough, Veterok himself is among the victims of his scheme: Lyosha invested his last money in the scheme to treat his ailing grandmother. While Lyosha is still processing what's happening, Pasha's ghost appears before him. Returning from heaven, the con man must atone for his guilt before those he deceived. Now, Pasha, having acquired "ghostly" superpowers, helps Lyosha investigate his own murder, while the detective gradually immerses himself in the dangerous world of his former clients. Will the con man ever be forgiven? And how do you do that if you're a ghost and your partner is a principled cop?
